The first astronomical sightings in Port Macquarie were of the Great Comet of 1843, recorded by Annabella Boswell at Innes House. The local name Transit
Hill, recalls the 1882 observation site of William MacDonnell to view the transit of Venus.

Come and enjoy a wonderful presentation and telescope viewing of space at our Observatory which was opened in 1965 by Government Astronomer
