Flying over the Bungle Bungles

If you ever get to visit the Bungle Bungles in the Kimberley, you just have to take a helicopter flight. It’s a great way to experience the incredibly unique and expansive beehive demos and gorges that make up Purnululu National Park.

Our group took a 40 minute helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles, and it was such an amazing way to see the whole area. It looks completely different from the air.

From above, some of the domes look like a topographical map in colour! Quite a unique perspective.

I just love this creek, meandering off into the distance. I can only imagine what it was like millions of years ago with huge amounts of rushing water.

The layers are so evident in these sedimentary rocks. In some areas, they still have lots of grass on top, where the erosion has obviously not taken place for as long as the beehive domes areas.
