Give it time. Things change, technology is exponential. When I was a kid, black holes were theoretical, and the Solar System consisted of 9 planets (let alone knowledge of any exoplanets).
Agree with Trevor - absolute and utter complete waste of time and effort. 20 years from now, I am sure people would look back and mock these 4th year students.
