Canon 100D - Low light performance ?

After the frustration of getter less than acceptable shots of nightscapes that I have photographed I now NEED a DSLR camera, least I lose these opportunities, to capture a satisfying photo of these delightful events.
I am tossing up between a 60D and the new 100D
The 100D is attractive due to its small form factor, especially with one of the wide angle "pancake" lenses fitted.
I have considered all the other factors between the two & I am prepared to trade off the tilt screen for the portability.
I travel a lot and compact is important as I have found that the easy to use, easy to transport gear i have is the gear that gets used the most.
So low light performance between the two is the Key factor I am considering.
I would value your experience and opinions on this.
PS: Photo attached is the one that has triggered this "Need". Its a good shot (considering the Canon S2-IS), but an opportunity missed for and excellent shot
