Well I hate to be the one to defend Auspost, but I've had a lot of stuff delivered over the last few months, and much more before that, none of it has gone missing inside Aus. For some strange reason something I ordered from China went via Switzerland, but you can't blame Auspost for that.
The parcel delivery guy knows me by sight now, he's great.
We occasionally get some incorrectly delivered mail, but there's two streets in the same postcode (vastly different suburbs though) with the same name, and one very close to us with a very similar name (Stanford vs Strathford), which seems to catch taxi drivers more than anyone.
They are also handling a lot of stuff, a small percentage must go wayward, human error I suppose.
