My RC8's primary dews up quite easily in winter when pointing near zenith. I have a dew strap around the extension tube between the scope and focuser - works quite well.
Before I did that, I've even had a thick layer of frost over the primary when imaging under dark skies out west.
A dew shield will help by reducing the amount of time that the primary is exposed to the cold night sky.
