Taken just seconds before totality, I think this re-mapped fisheye shot captures total solar eclipse twilight quite well.

Ta......You know something weird is going on with the light in the shadows, they are no-where near as dark as they should be

Wow, you are right - it captures it so well I found it a bit spooky!
Nice capture Peter!

Great shot Peter  Gives a good sense of what it must have been like there in person for those (like me) who didn't make it up there for it.

Not sure about silvery light; I thought is was more like a golden light.

Hi Peter, any chance of the exposure details, and exactly how many seconds pre-Totality, do you know?
I keep coming back to look at this image... definitely one of my favourite images from this eclipse, I love it! I think it's a great projection and looks particularly awesome at the resolution on your website (I think a smaller version would be way less effective).

1/13th sec @ F4.0, ISO 200, Canon 5DII, Canon 8-15mm fisheye @ 8mm.
No idea exactly when (the time on the metadata was not even close to being accurate) other than the next few frames on the Flashcard show totality.

Was definitely like this 150k north west of Cairns. I have been describing it to my friends and family, and the best explanation I can come up with is it's like a golden twilight, but because the sun is higher in the sky, there aren't the typical gold/orange hues of dusk.

Hi Peter - This really gives a great appearance in the seconds leading up to totality. Any chance you would let me post the lower half of the image in my free online web magazine TOTALITY! ? You will indeed receive a photo credit. Thanks.
