Hi,

Recently I got myself a Powermate 2.5x. Unfortunately, imaging conditions haven't been the best in my area. I have managed to take a shot of the Plato-Vallis Alpes Area of the Moon with a decent magnification as it's one the prettiest sights to image in my opinion. It's very noisy and seriously lacks focus due to the bad conditions, but I have pushed the processing as far as I could. Still, as a first with the Powermate, I am pretty happy with it. I just wanted to share it with you.

Eric,

A good image, of a really spectacular part of the moon. Focus can be very hard to find when the seeing is poor. Keep at it, you will be rewarded with good seeing eventually!

Thanks Ivan. I will certainly keep at it and, hopefully, produce better images at that magnification.

So much detail. The more I look the more I see. Great shot.

I really like these close in images.

I quite like it especially with the shadows.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Stu, Niko and Darrin for your encouraging words.

Niko, i have used a 10" SW dobsonian, a DMK41 and a powermate 2.5x. The avi was stacked and procecessed in registax, levels were amusted in GIMP 2.8.

The view to me looks as though the photo was taken from a space craft. Awesome shot and I love the shadows.

The same scene two days later. It's less dramatic without the shadows and the Terminator nearby!

Yep you picked a nice perspective of the moon. Indeed, it does look as if the images is taken back as one is circumnavigating it!

Beautiful Eric, how many frames?

Hi Peter! Only 100 frames, which is my standard for Moon AVIs now. I usually take 100 frames. If I want a bit more data, I take 250 frames. For mosaics, i only go for 50 frames per panel.

Cheers,

Eric
