CFW8 and Maxim

So my second hand (he types that very carefully today) ST-10XME arrived today. I am very excited.

It came with a CFW8 - a SBIG filter wheel. It is loaded with 8 filters. However, using this with Maxim DL I can only access the first 5 filters. I have Maxim set to SBIG Universal.

Is there a trick I need to know about to access filters 6 - 8?

Had to take the cover off to learn that one

What filters are you going to use?
Are you going to use the ST10 on the LISA?
If so I had to take the filter wheel off mine to get the correct spacing.

Yes Terry - I bought it to sit on the LISA.

I came with the CFW8 and a set of narrowband filters - I've only ever used Ha not SII or OIII so it might be interesting to try out when the moon is up.

Of course, having bought it, I learned that it won't come to focus through the CFW8 - I understand that the later SBIG FWs do fit. Olivier is sending me the adapter so I can mount it properly.

So I guess this will be my dedicated spectro and photometry camera. I'll load the BVRI filters onto the filter wheel and re-attach it to the camera when I want to switch to photometry. Its a bit of a pain to go from LISA to photometry but its worth it for fun targets like the SN in NGC1365.

Now all I need is clear skies!

Bit misleading on SBig's part to describe it as a CFW-8.

Actually, I think it was version 8 in a series of FWs.

The adaptor I have from Sheliak works very well. You need to orient the camera as accurately as you can to have the neon lines vertical and the spectra as close to possible to horizontal. Mine measures 0.1deg of tilt only and this can be corrected by Isis when you plocess the spectra.
