Hello everyone.

Nice little galaxy this and framed well by some bright stars.

http://www.martinpughastrophotography.id.a u/images/NGC986_HaLRGB.jpg

The line of stars (?) at the 2 o'clock position is quite interesting. Not seen those before in other images?

Taken with the 12.5" RCOS from Yass, AOL guided with STL11K and Astrodon Gen 2 filters.

Its HaLRGB consisting of 6.5:11:3:3:3 hours for a total of 26.5.

thanks for checking it out and clear skies

Martin

Hi Martin,
Yes a very nice shot, an interesting patch of sky around Fornax there.
Always appreciate your images, thanks for showing them.

Hi Martin, beautiful image!

I can only verify that the beads exist and that they're not an imaging artifact.

Interestingly there seems to be no info in relation to them other that they appear in some images of NGC 986.

Such a pretty face on Galaxy. :) I love your work so much. That string of stars gives it added interest don't you think.

I think it looks a bit like a prehistoric "ray" sort of fish with a star tail.... Maybe we could rename it the Sting Ray Galaxy.

What a great shot. Many thanks.
