Hello everyone,

here's a close-up image of the Lagoon and Hourglass Nebula. Colours are subjective and different to those I posted in the wide field area of this same image, see http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=9944.

The image is a stack of 7 x 2-minute exposures (14-minutes total) with the modified Canon 300D at the 2-inch prime focus of my 12-inch f/5 scope. Hand guiding done with 4.5" f/18 guidescope. Used the 2" Baader Coma Corrector and 2" Baader UV/IR Cut Filter.

There's a higher resolution image here

regards to everyone

The images I tend to like the best are those that show a very familiar object in a slightly or completely different light..this is one such image, really like your treatment

Certainly doesnt seem like just a 2 minute sub. Nice work..what is it with the water in Newcastle, seems to bring out the best astro images :)

Yes indeed Paul it is a fine unit.. I heard there is a 16 inch on the way I wonder if it will be as good as the 12inch. I am happy to hear with 30 years under your belt you can say they are good scopes for the money sortta says I was right to go ahead with one. I love it I get to see so much visually I find it sad that I didnt get into astronomy years ago... but never had the door opened to me until 3 plus years ago.. now that my sight is going..dam it. Fantastic image by the way..cant wait to see the rest.
