..obscure in the sense of little known, actually this object is remarkably bright as dusty patch, which does not explain the very little amount of amateur images of this object. I discovered it by chance while I wandered onto the plates of digitized palomar survey, looking for attractive molecular clouds with a size suitable for my instrument.
Sharples 63 is part of high latitude molecular cloud MBM 159, which is located at a distance of about 220 pc and may form part of the Aquila rift. This bit of sky is just few degrees west of the Barnard's Galaxy.

Sharpless 63 (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/deepsky/13667287_7Mtr58#!i=2221993788&k=H8hLTp6&lb=1&s=X3)

This is a simple LRGB (there is no trace of Ha in the area) although quite deep in luminance. Certainly not a spectacular object but still quite interesting as evidence of how much dust is visible near the Milky Way About 13 hours of data with my usual setup.
Hope you will like it :)

That looks really cool Marco, I can see how it could be an extension of the Barnard Galaxy region. I was going to download and rotate your image to see what it looked like I think I can see two ghosts (people under a sheet) when rotated 90deg anticlockwise .. but your site prevents download of the image...sneeeky ;)

Great job!

I can just imagine you turning your head upside down to see them! I shouldnt mention but if you spam right click and tell your browser to stop the page sending you that popup (firefox asks you if you want to prevent it) then it will let you download to your hearts content.

I love your images Marco every one you post is beautifully displayed, noise free, and interesting in content.

Great image Marco. Am still ploughing through the usual suspects learning as I go so seeing the off beat stuff is great as it gives another imaging path to aim for later on.

That's a beautiful piece of dust and very well captured as usual. I too can recognise how it appears to feature similar patterns as near Barnard's Galaxy.
Great work Marco :)

Thanks Dave, definitely a gosthy patch :)

Thanks Leo!

Thanks John :)

Thanks David, yes, it is quite an overlooked bit of sky :)

Thanks Marc, in reality it is not that faint, already 20/30 mins of exposures are enough to show it very clearly, at least from dark locations :)

Thanks Rolf :)

Thanks David, this may be just another target to shoot at when you have imagined a bit of the the usual bunch ;)

Thanks Peter :)

Thanks Justin, is the whole sky that is art work, evergreen art I would add :D

Thanks Rick

Thanks Pat ;)

Hehe, thanks mike, this would be a nice target for Halloween then :P

The dark side of the .. matter :D Thanks Lewis

Thanks Larry!
