Hi everyone,

After a recent aperture upgrade (to a C11), I am selling my 6" (152mm) 1200mm focal length (F8) Achromatic Refractor. This was my first scope and has given me a terrific introduction to the hobby. I can highly recommend it to someone new to the hobby or someone longing for a bigger refractor aperture. It is the scope I have been using at the Katoomba Airfield at our monthly meets.

Last year, I upgraded the focuser to a 2" Moonlite Crayford Focuser with 10:1 tri-knobs. I also opted for a 4" drawtube and focus lock for astro-photography work. This was a $USD500 upgrade. The focuser is butter smooth in operation and fully rotateable. It makes it a joy to use this scope. I still have original the R&P focuser if you want it.

I will also include the Orion soft carry case and ADM dovetail.

Included in this sale is:

* Skywatcher 6" OTA
* Moonlite Crayford focuser (2") 10:1 reduction
* Original Skywatcher focuser
* Original Skywatcher rings
* ADM Losmandy D type dovetail
* Orion large soft carry case. There is room in this case for the refractor and a tripod or second refractor. It is well padded with a padded divider section.

I am asking $750 posted to your door in Australia (PRICE DROPPED with postage included) for the the lot, or best offer.

Thanks for looking and please send me any questions.

Thanks

James

I've got the same scope except with Celestron branding and a motorise Moonlite focuser. I also have a Baader FringeKiller on the front of the diagonal. I can tell you that it's a nice rig and gives lovely views. I think that at $750 this is a steal.

Thanks David,

Yes, I have the Baader FringeKiller too. It does a great job on bright planets. I don't need to use it on any other objects though. Yes, you can see the Cassini Division on Saturn and the cloud bands and GRS on Jupiter on a still night through this scope.

Nebluae, Globulars, Glaxaies are all also lovely, sharp, and contrasty in this scope with the big aperture. Many forums say this scope punches well above its aperture. It compares favourably to 8" and 10" Newtonians when I did side by side comparisons.

Omega Centauri at 100x is particularly stunning - especially through a 12mm Nagler - go for a space walk in the stars! And you will feel like you are falling through space if you are lucky enough to borrow an Ethos - wow!

You should get at least 4 band on Jupiter on a good night - I think I've seen 6. You can also see bands on Saturn. If you can't I'd blame the ep.

Hi James,
that Baader diagonal shown in the pics but not listed among the inclusions, is that a prism diagonal by any chance and if so, is it available for sale separately?

Cheers
Steffen.

Hi again Steffen,

The diagonal is a Baader "Click-Lock" star diagonal. It is not a prism. They are silly expensive (ie $240USD) but beautifully made and the click-lock-release feature makes changing eyepieces so easy - it is worth the investment!

Would I ever sell it? Over my dead body, it is that good!

Ah, ok then. I'm over premium mirror diagonals, I'm after a good prism for my Mak :)

Cheers
Steffen.
