Curved cloud with lightning

Hi. Found this photo from the last lightning storm that hit Adelaide. I was enhancing the colours that were there to try and bring out that lightning bolt when upon reducing the red luminance, this curved cloud appeared. I can push it further to bring out the roll even more but the noise follows.
Was wondering if anyone knows about or has seen this type before?

Could be the gust front of the storm but tend not to look that smooth, what was the exposure time?

Hi. Was 30 secs@ iso1600 with my 500 D and 18-55mm kit lens@18mm
I have a few more images taken just afterwards, will look at them and see is there is anything else too
Edit- will check re ISO but was 30 secs

Yep exposure time could have smoothed out the cloud, it looks lit up by the light pollution so it would look smoother. Hence the red colouring.

Too many astro images at 1600 haha.

Hi Steve.
Hard to make out, but it could be a Shelf cloud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcus_cloud) or a Wall cloud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wall_cloud).
Tho more likely to be a Shelf cloud.

Thanks Simon for the info i will check them out. i found another one. Thet seem to show up better when the sky has been illuminated by lightning further away.

I used the exact same settings to bring out the cloud as the previous image.
