Excellent Peter . We were at 4 mile beach too, the view was good generally, but pity the totality was clouded. Your pic is different enough to make up for that :).

Indeed it does.. nice shot (self portrait and all)! Must have been great on the beaches like this that did get to see something.

Can you see Saturn in the original?

OMG - the clouds certainly teased you! Not sure I could have coped with such suspense!

Biggest thing I've learnt from this eclipse is the need to be mobile. While things are fresh in my mind, I've investigated a few options for the USA in 2017. There are some highways that parallel the eclipse pathway in Wyoming and Nebraska - might be fun cruising around in a big American RV with the family!

It does convey the scene and mood very well.

Yep like this, I am going to go with a wide field for my next one to capture the earths shadow and use a small mount to capture the corona. I have looked at several wide field images and wish I had captured this aspect of the event. You look as if you are frantically capturing in the image and this adds to the sense of drama.

Very nice shot Peter.

Thanks guys.... but I would have preferred that mongrel cloud to have moved on a little earlier!
