Hi All

Two wees ago i bought this new Lens for my Pentax IstD, but do you think the weather has helped......Not on your life, it's been lousy non stop from the day i bought it.
Addmititly Ballarat needs the rain, but i need a fix of Star Time too.

So how's it at your place. :( :(

The wet season is hanging on in Gove NT, have had a few lucky clear patches to see the comet !

Brisbane calling.....

…..we have clear skies but fairly ordinary seeing. I have Jupiter on the notebook display in the back garden and I cannot focus on the disc as the wobbly seeing is not giving even fleeting glimpses of anything sharp. When I pan to one of the moons, I can get good focus but upon returning to the planetary disc....mushy bands and a blank disc. :(

Over and out

I'm about 100Km north of Dennis and have intermittent cloud with visible stars twinkling so badly I don't need my glasses to see it

 Oh well.

Perth: Patchy cloud, enough to not be worth going outside. And then there's the moon.

Roger.

Yea rodger i forgot about the Moon, not that iv'e seen it for a while, at least when the clouds are gone, then maybe the Moon will have nicked off as well.

It is absolutely terrible here! Cloud every night for last few months (except maybe 1 or 2 nights).

My weather is just like yours Leon! Funny about that!!

That's my hope. Forecast is for clear skies here late in the coming week, which would suit well for the moon too.

Time will tell..

Roger.

Jet stream is gone, now for the cloud to go, not to mention the moon.

Yeah, be great when the Moon and Cloud goes. Then I'll have a perfect view of the smoke from a hundred chimneys!

Brisbane calling......bulletin #2
Seeing has improved to the extent that the white ovals in Jupiter's belts are more or less continuously visible and resolved on-screen in K3CCDTools. A nice Galilean moon is approx 1 disc to the right.

Gee, the full Moon (ours) is bright.

Over and out

Thats a good one! Great detail in there, can't wait until you hit it with your wavelett techique!

Dennis
13-05-2006, 11:14 PM
Sorry Asi, I have misled you....."fresh off the display" actually meant I was doing it outside in the back garden, and the image fully processed in Registax whilst I was also capturing in K3CCDTools....so what you see is the final product of 800 stacked with Wavelet 1=20.

And, the seeing has just gone mushy, really mushy, but at least we have clear skies!

Cheers

800 frames is a lot Dennis! Try 200, it might come out sharper. Although who am I to suggest messing with your technique.

Your images are consistently MARVELLOUS!

Thanks Mike - I am always grateful to receive feedback and suggestions for my images and have really appreciated the care and time that IIS people have taken in providing it.

Earlier this morning, I tried stacking fewer frames but after Zac posted his Jupiter, I probably won't bother with mine as the seeing was not that good.

Cheers

Hi Paul

Well, since you asked in such an animated and colourful manner, what else could I do but process the images!

A quick run through seemed to indicate the best one was at 22:27pm so I punched it through Registax with the following settings:

Quality 97%
479 frames from 900
Wavelets 1=40; 2=10.

The 3 images are; Normal size, Mitchell 150% and Mitchell 200%.

Cheers

Dennis
