View Full Version here: : Jupiter 14th Nov. Not bad seeing

It really did look like bad seeing on the live feed so I'm really surprised at this result, but that's the way it's been going for ages with me; Seeing that looks nasty on-screen producing pretty good finals, & nice looking seeing on the live feed giving a crappy result in the final:screwy:
The smaller scaled image (F20) along with Io @ 30FPS and the bigger (F25) @ 60FPS. Detail on Io so I might try for a resample on it later.

Awesome detail on Io.

Thanks guys! Very happy with this result as it's my best effort this apparition. I realize this thread can't possibly compete with the mobs of eclipse threads so 'tis ok, I don't need comments anyway, was over that many years ago:lol::P

Hello, great shot.
If possible could you display an average image of jupiter preprocessed so that I can get an idea of the change.

Depends on what you mean by a preprocessed image - 1 single frame from an AVI or an unprocessed stack of frames.
Here is the best frame from one AVI that has 10880 frames in it. The seeing was ranging from zero to 10 in the blink of an eye on this morning so it's complete pot luck on how many nice frames in an AVI. Sit there & take 20 X 3 min AVI's minimum is my answer to that.
Sorry if you are not familiar with the planet imaging 'lingo' yet James..
EDIT: & thanks Mick & Daniel!

Thanks, I just wanted to get an idea how good the raw data needs to be...
A lot better than mine

Don't worry James, all the planet imagers here (me included!) Have had way worse RAW frames than the one you posted. You'll get yours eventually.

Hi Asi
What's the software you are using shown in your screen grab? Also, how are you finding the DBK618 over the AU02 for planetary imaging?
Cheers

Hi Steve.
The software is > http://www.astrokraai.nl/autostakkert.php
I wouldn't even consider using the AU02 again, the 618 is that much better. In fact I sold my AU02 only last week so I definitely won't be using it again!

A great couple of images, Asimov.
For mine, this is the image of the past few sessions. Not as fine detail as your one of the 16th, but this is the "more interesting" hemisphere.

Not to bad at all Asi, in fact some rather nicely resolved detail right across the field.
