Solar Photography

Once again I come seeking advice!
I have been trying to photograph the sun with a Coranado Solar scope (SolarMax II 60 single stack).
I can get a fairly sharp image, but cannot get any detail from the disc or the edges. The whole thing appears to be washed out. I am using an Lmaging Source DFK 31AF03 AS camera, which has a top frame speed of 30FPS.
Any suggestions will be taken on board thankfully.

You need to set the shutter speed right and gamma settings until the image isn't too bright. The automatic settings usually don't work well.

Thanks for the advice.... have achieved a reasonable result at last!! Lucky to catch a clear patch of sky and got a couple of good shots of the partial solar eclipse here in SW Vic.
