just a quick question:

having never seen a partial eclipse before I'll be wanting to photograph it. 67% is what i'll be seeing so will my thousand oaks filter be th go? I am assuming so....

Should be fine. I used a similar setup for the Venus transit.

I'll be using a TO on my Sony+500mm. And on my ED127 if I take that too. 67% is about right

We had it a bit better here in Armidale.
I took my little (120mm) achromat refractor and some eclipse glasses to my daughters school and had clear skies til about 10 mins past mid eclipse. It certainly got darker. Lots of the girls saw the partial eclipse. Interestingly they liked the view with the glasses more than the scope.

At least I saw some of the transit. Saw absolutely nothing of the eclipse.

"Luckily" I come from Scotland so I'm used to being clouded out.

in sydney we were treated to a 100% eclipse instead of the forecasted 67%!

yay! :(

Yes, Sydney weather has foiled views of the partial lunar eclipse about 6 months ago as well. Its becoming a bad habit.

Ditto problem with clouds in Canberra, there were occassional thins in the clouds so I was able to get some photos. The chances were fleeting so I just had to keep watching, have the camera ready and if I started to notice the sun with the glasses on it was bright enough for me to find and shoot. If I was quick enough.

Still, got to see bits of it and get some pics. My first solar eclipse of any mind so I'm not totally disappointed.
