Here is my attempt on this amazing galaxy cluster. It is a deep LRGB aiming to the center of the cluster and includes the massive NGC1399, NGC 1350, 1427A and NGC 1404. In the corner I was able also to fit the beautiful NGC 1365 to complete this lovely field

Fornax Cluster (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/deepsky/13667287_7Mtr58#!i=2205976441&k=BzPxGwX&lb=1&s=X3)

Total of more than 26 hours of light collection.

To me this one is even more spectacular than the Virgo Cluster, even if smaller. I hope you will like this image as much as I do :) The full res version shows a lot of distant galaxies in the background.

Clear skies

Hi Marco,

That is an amazing image.

The URL has a typo - I think it should be http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/deepsky/13667287_7Mtr58#!i=2205976441&k=BzPxGwX&lb=1&s=X3

Cheers,

Terrific field Marco. The full res is awesome. Spent about 20 min looking around. So many faint fuzzies and other interesting things in the area. Great shot.

My favourite area too, and beautifully covered Marco.

Ah Marco my friend, seems we are following each other around the same part of the sky...this is my current project too and a very similar field  with your automated setup, you are of course doing it much more efficiently than me ...mine will be much less than a days worth of exposure though ;)

Anyway, just been looking at your site and saw this (before you posted here) - this is really great and yes it is an awesome cluster indeed and you have captured it very nicely  ...seems you missed the Supernova though ...so at least that will be something different between our images :D

The best wide field of Fornax I think I have ever seen

I have the plate from the UK Schmitt Telescope covering the same field. Just love your image and I was going to do a large mosaic of this area ASAP.

I had a close look at your image and as far as I can see you managed NOT to record the Sn in this galaxy. Peculiar but I don't know when you obtained your data.

Noticed the same thing... looks like the data was pre-SN.

Hi Marco,
Beautiful wide field picture & yes you just missed that supernova.
Just checked on Stellarium & NGC 1365 is almost directly overhead from Melbourne at 1.45am.

cheers

Wow that's stunning Marco, very nice image and superb processing again. There is a lot going on in that image, also in the background. It really puts this cluster into perspective. Thanks for the view :)

Thanks David, the long luminance paied off despite my system is not very fast @ 7.2 :)

Thanks Kevin :)

Thanks Mark, I did an annotated map of the area and there are dozen of galaxies out there, it is an amazing field indeed !

Grazie Alex ;)

Thanks Greg!

Thanks Marc, it was a while I wanted to image this one, it was in my to do list for long time, just needed the right moment of the year to shoot it :)

Gee, thanks Mike, I am sure your image will turn out great with your firepower now that you have decent skies above your head! I indeed missed the sn, all LRGB subframes were taken between September 28 to October 17th, so the last luminance frame was taken 10 days before the discovery. I indeed checked if there was any sign of the nova there and there is nothing.. It seems that I missed the light of the nova for few days after a journey of 60 million years

Thanks Steve !

Please do it Allan, this is for sure a field full of surprises, in aprticular at larger imaging scale!

Ditto as per Mike, missed it for 10 days :)

Thanks Paul!

Yep, as above, few days too early ;)

Thanks to you Steve, glad that delighted you!

Thanks Paula

Thanks Roger, glad you liked it!

Yes Allan, this is the best time of the year to take a nice shot of this area passing overhead all over Australia!

Thanks Mark, didn't count them all but a rough estimation only of PGC there are around one hundred in the field, quite impressive to see how much stuff is out there..

Thanks Tony

Thanks Rolf, mission accomplished than :)

Glad you all liked it, I am very happy how this field turned out, this is a really amazing bit of sky to image even with medium resolution!

Beautiful field, rich in light and structure Marco. NGC1365 is one of my favourite galaxies, pity that you finished imaging before the supernova exploded. How many days between the final subframe and first discovery report?

Thank Leo :)

Hi greg, thanks :) I missed the sn for about 10 days since from last frame. I have actually collected some rgb last week that should have the sn in it but still have to download the fits due to some issues I have on the remote connection. My idea id to add the sn light from this rgb to this image to have the best of the two images, but I will have to wait a bit longer to do it :(

Thanks Ross for the appreciation :)

Thanks Adrian, I have to admit this is a very fine galaxy cluster even if I have not imaged many other in the past..

Thanks Ben :)
