I have made the solar filter for the Celestron Firstscope. Just in time for the eclipse. It works quite well, I can clearly see the sunspots with grey area around it. The background is not as dark though, I am guessing its the optics of the scope.

I tried to take a photo with a compact camera (hand held). It can't seem to focus as clear as visual, not sure why. I used a sharpen tool around the sunspots.

Thanks Laurie! I would have to wait until next year to invest in the better suited camera.

As some may be aware I am not a big fan of these Firstscopes, but that is a great result!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Just shows what a little patience can achieve.

Malcom: Thanks!! Yeah, they are not very good on the planets. But impressed with the moon and the sun.
