We signed the contract on our house yesterday.
The propective buyer went to the bank this morning to see about finance then came around this arvo to measure up for his fridge, wall units, TV and work out where to put the new sheds and swimming pool, talk about keen. His parting words to me were, have we got a place to move to and when can we move out.
There are 3 properties that we have in mind. One is in Hazeldean next to Somerset Dam and the others are closer to the Connandale ranges outside of Kilcoy.
I'll miss my dark skies :( and don't really want to move closer to the bright lights of Kilcoy. I wonder if I can convince the real estate agent to let us inspect the houses at night so I can see how dark the skys are.

There goes my dreams of turning my house into an observatory.

Whew! Thank God, it's only your house! You almost gave me a hear attack. I thought you were selling your scope! :scared:

That house does look like it would make a nice observatory. Don't move into the light, it's bad! Darkness beckons! :astron: :) Good idea about inspecting at night and only when it's clear. ;) That will freak them sellers out!

We've been here about 3years Dave.
I must take a compass with me tomorrow, make sure I get my bearings right.
This time I was a good northern view with no planet eating trees.

Scared me too!!!

At first thought on reading the title I thought you meant selling up your gear and moving on to a different hobby!

Phew!

I think you need a night away at Ron's to get over it all Jeanette.

I think we've decided on our new home.
3.5 acres with a running creek on the back boundary and a license to pump from it. It has a small mango orchard, a huge barn style 3 bay shed and a dam. The house is a bit pokey, but I can live with that, it is the water situation that is most important these days.
Astronomically speaking the views are pretty ordinary because of the trees but the sky that you can see will be pretty dark.
I have a older friend that lives further up the same road that used to be into Astronomy but now has failing eyesight ( poor old bugger ). With luck he may let me use his dome which is sitting unused in his front paddock.

Jeanette,

If his sight is failing, just take the Dome. He won't know. :D

Good that you got darkish skies, and a few acres.
