I am wondering what time the eclipse starts and what angle it will be in the sky. I wonder if my mount could be used in my observatory or if the sun will be too low.

Here's one really good site Greg and includes cloud predictions.

In Sydney the max eclipse is 67% at 8.02 am with the sun at 27% altitude

I've worked out that a tree two or three houses from home will be in the way. I'll have to go up to Glenhaven to get a clear eastern horizon.
Then again, the weather forecast for the morning threatens cloud and rain, clearing later in the day. I think my StarLapse, 475 tripod and 229 head, DSLR and 500mm lens, and TO glass filter will have to do.

Thanks for that.
Thats helpful 27 degrees would be above my observatory wall.
Lets hope the wet weather is late. It often is.
Greg.
