Well i have now finalised my eclipse setup. its taken a while and taken a lot of thought - but i have narrowed it down to two lightweight travel setups.

both dual cameras, on a losmandy Starlapse and now the Astrotrac. Both rigs driven by the macbook air 11 driven by solar eclipse maestro

both being packed now - yet to make my filters, will do so tonight.

LOL Alan is packed and ready to go - he has 270grams left on his 40kg limit (with some of my gear ;) ) and 2kg in the backpack carryon. i have yet to measure the gear but i suspect it will be as close;)

Still got one point of failure being your Macbook.

Dig up an old laptop and load copies of everything on it as well and test it.

already have that - but eclipse orcvhestrator pro still wont run the cameras the way they should be , so i can use setnc - but only with one camera - so thats the fallback - that and a bulb setting and some manual shots:shrug:

How have you got around the Astrotrac slipping / moving on the geared head plate where they connect? Would be keen to know as this was a problem for me at Astrofest?

h0ughy
06-11-2012, 09:34 PM
did you get a response from astrotrac? not sure:question: sounds like a mechanical failure

astro_south
06-11-2012, 10:09 PM
I haven't contacted Astrotrac yet. Does the brass insert on the back of yours spin when you tighten it up the screw on the plate? If not, then there is something amiss with mine.

Didn't want to distract you from your preps - I can quiz you later on about it... good luck with the chase and I am looking forward to your pics and vids
