Quick heads up - everyone's favourite hipster physicist - Prof Brian Cox - is joining Dr Karl on Triple J this Thursday at 11am. Why not phone in with a question!

The hubby actually told me about this yesterday as he's a big fan of the show- looks after me well doesn't he. I was going to do a heads up closer to the date but you beat me to it.:P
Having a look at the webpage, you have to put in your location specific to your state- I got confused so the hubby stepped up & sorted it out and now it's ready to go set to Brisbane :D.
I just hope I remember!

Aye, if I did ring in, my question will not be science related, throwing me in front of Cox is like leaving Romeo with Juliet, telling the mouse not to eat the cheese yadda yadda; just simply no good can come out of it. I'll use all my willpower not to make that phone call, any ounce of intelligence I thought I had would just be thrown out the window in seconds... And I can assure you once on that phone, I won't be getting off in a hurry.:P

Nettie has great composure, as nervous as she most likely is, she's going to be fine, I just know it. If anyone can sail through that meeting, it'd be our own Nettie. :D Errr I speak from an astro chick perspective... you know because we are sort of.. just a little bit.. dazzled by Brian. I'm sure the guys there will be fine.

*ahemmm*... I figure she can break the ice and settle those nerves by producing this Brian doll from her handbag, get him to take all its clothes off (Nettie doing it in front of him would be wrong on every level) so he can sign every limb and body part and then when she arrives home with it, she rips it up limb by limb and posts each one of us IIS astro chicks a signed body part.
Win win I say. :D

Btw, note how perfectly shaped they got those lips and the delicate wisps of hair ever so delicately gracing the sides of his head  Quite amazing isn't it.

And you guys thought you'd seen everything :P.

Getting off topic, time to be quiet now Suzy...:help:

Eeeek! 2 sleeps to go!!
I'm going to have to have some form of sedation to get any sleep tomorrow night.
Suzy, if I can get out one coherent sentence, I'll be happy.

Bwian and Dr Karl, that's going to be brilliant. :)

Will get to see him give a free presentation at Melbourne uni on Friday. I'm not sure if he is going to the other states or not. It's going to be very funny as a friend of mine who is going too, is an amazing Coxy doppelgänger!

Hi Russell,
I know of a couple of the ladies from here that are going to that lecture. It got booked out pretty fast!
I had the impression he was only doing Melbourne as well.

Hi Suzy,
Yes booked out very fast! An email has been sent through advising that if you aren't seated by 7.25pm they will be letting people in to use them (as it's a free lecture), so people who missed may have a small chance to get in still!

I'm confused.
It's 10am and they just said he'll be on in one hour.
The programme time down south seems to be matching our Qld time even tho we don't have daylight saving ? hmmm.
Aaarggggh all excited and now I have wait an hour more grrrrrr.

Are you asking a question Stu or anyone?
I'm too shy. I think. :ashamed:

Suzy - you can probably stream the live radio feed via the Triple J website, and then listen to it again via local radio in an hour. What's better than listening to hipster Brian?...hearing him twice :)

It's streaming live now. I've also recorded the previous hour with BC on 702Sydney.

What the hell is that guy talking about that pyramid business *shakes head* Crickey I bet there's someone going to be on there about Nibiru as well. Oh my gosh I just had an idea.

Where's the phone no where I can ring in my question ???

Suzy he was on "Mornings with Linda Mottram" on 702 Sydney answering questions from high school children. You might be able to get it from there.

The unedited Audacity files are about 1GB.
The unedited jjj one is about 4GB (some music tracks to be removed).

Suzy

 Yes Stu that was funny!
I liked his comeback on if aliens had built the pyramids why then didn't they leave a spanner or titanium or something.

I really like the way he explained curved space using earth as example if you walked from the equator to the north pole in a straight line it's actually curved even tho it feels like you walked a straight line and putting that into context of how the universe is curved and not really straight. I get it so much better now.

Andrew, many thanks, I'll chase that up. :D

I'm listening to the show again, this time on radio and yaaay caught up with the first 20mins I missed on the live stream. So much info to take in, one really needs to listen to it twice and then some. What a great show!

Some good answers in there as well as a couple of fair questions :)
You are always going to get the Pyramid type of question in any program of this type ,but well answered without being too condescending :)
Missed the first 25 minutes but caught up with it on the radio.:D
Cheers:thumbsup:

Just discovered he's doing a gig at the Opera House:

Seems it's all sold out though, much to the disappointment of my girlfriend who even tried to get standing room tickets.

Many thanks Andrew.
That was a fantastic session with the high school kids. Very intelligent questions asked!

Hugh, I didn't know he was doing a stint there, and I'm not surprised it's booked out :P. I feel your girlfriends pain.
On the upside that publicity pic is hubba hubba hubba...

I was doing a bit of Brian googling (that didn't sound right!) and I came across this article (http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/about-town/science-sexy-we-can-dare-to-dream-as-former-pop-star-ponders-universe-20121107-28ype.html) in The Age today titled, "Science Sexy?..."
That pic is what he was wearing when Jeanette saw him yesterday.:D
And also check out that mullet- it's a doozy! :eyepop:
We now know who to blame for his seemingly one red t-shirt then don't we! :mad2:
