My better-half is traveling state-side to visit her parents. I've been looking into tuning the NEQ6-W and came across the following...

Does anyone have any experience with the kits or other suggestions for a similar/better one?

Also... anyone use these and are they worth it?

I purchased one of these kits for the CGEM.

I think it is a bit pricey, but was pleased with the result.

I did not go for the ceramic bearings, they seemed just too expensive for what they were.

I am using the ABEC7 class of ceramic bearings from VXB of USA, however I found out later that they are actually rollerskate bearings!

I've got lots of teflon washers left over (in fact my spacer thickness is much less by three-fold than what was originally installed in my EQ6!!)

If you can tell me the thickness you want I'll pass the closest one to you for no cost - PM me

The spacer that is important is the one that sits underneath the brass worm ring gear, the other ones on top of the 6008 bearings determine the gap you will end up with between the assembled parts of both axis - that's where the aluminium graduated collars with the markings of hour-angles (RA) and degrees (DEC)
