Its been a while since I did a deep sky image.
This one is a salvage from some imaging I did with the AP140 whilst I was having tracking problems with my PMX mount. This is a crop from a Lagoon image which isn't really good enough to post. This section though turned out not too bad considering.

AP140 F7.5 with Tak 4 inch flattener, Proline 16803, STi and MMOAG and PMX mount.

I installed a baffle kit for the Planewave CDK17, cleaned the mirrors and generally getting shipshape to get some more imaging done soon.

Beautiful image, Greg!

Pretty ordinary Greg, most of the stars look like they are joined in a giant spagetti thing.

Thanks Larry

Yes I see that. I did a repro and I think that I reduced that a lot.
Its not the best this setup can do of course but it still turned out ok. Its also a crop of a much larger image.

Good to see you salvaged something from the wreckage, Greg!

Thanks Rick. I took the data over a month ago. I didn't bother to process it as I knew it had some double stars from a spike in the PE. But there was some usable data there. Not the best I will take but no images for while so its good to get something out.

:) One of my favourite regions of the sky. :)

Cheers JJJ. It is a nice area.

I now have a replacement worm block and updated software so I am hopeful I will be back to super tight round stars next time and long exposures with something higher quality to show.
The CDK is all cleaned up with extra baffles installed ready to go as well now my autoguider is back and all working well.

Hi Greg,

very nice. Many details and nice colours. I did a widefield of this region, now I know the close up. ;)

Thanks Marc. Its nice to retrieve something from that weak imaging run and also to be able to post an astro image. Its been a while.

Thanks very much. Its a pretty nebula.

Some nice colour processing there Greg! The way the clouds have been in Sydney at least we can process / look at these repros. Sounds like you had a warranty issue with your PMX and should be sorted out now (new worm block)?

Sounds like you have been busy Greg, you will be eager to get back out.

Not your best result but it is such a lovely area that even faulty equipment affected data can be made to look good

Yes I received the new worm block which looks very nice but have to fit it yet. Next trip.

That's exacly what I thought.

Looks good Greg. The attached thumbnail looks really bad though, blurry and tiny.
The version on your site is great.

I uploaded a thumbnail as an attachment. What should I have done so the thumbnail links to the actual image not the thumbnail?

Very nice Greg and an often overlooked area due to m8 being so prominent. Love the image and it's processing.

If my failures turned out this good I would be quite happy Greg. Nice job of processing.

Cheers

Cheers Allan. I am hoping to do a long exposure Horsehead once I service the mount. I already have some inspiring luminance so hopefully in the next trip weather and mount are all good.

Thanks for the nice compliment Steve.
