Hi All,
Picked up my new telescope yesterday. Installed it onto the mount in the evening. Fired it up, all looks good so far, but of course it's cloudy.
The camera should arrive by the middle of next weekish, so there'll be wall to wall clouds in Melbourne for the foreseeable future.
It's an ASA N12, which I bought in preference to the AG12 after much mental anguish. The two scope have similar specs, are similar in price etc. Mike Sidonio had problems with his ASA scope and raves about his AG12. But I've also read of similar problems with the AG scopes. I suppose that's what you get when they are hand made, sometimes things go wrong. What clinched the deal was that ASA have a representative in Melbourne, so I didn't have to go through the hassle of importing it myself. Cris cut me a good deal, so I went with the ASA.
Here's some pics, one in the very nice transport case, one installed on the PMX.
Cheers
Stuart
