SPX350 F30.4, PGRFlea3, Baader RGB. 31.10.12-1643hrs Seeing 4-6.

First time imaging planets since Autumn, almost forgot what to do. Seeing was avg with those wavy movements over the disc wobbling the outline of Jup, but got one steady moment with 6/10 seeing.

Tried Winjupos with Firecapture 2.1, WJ would not work with FC 1.1 for some reason but was fine with 2.1. Also aligned in Maxim on one centre spot on Jupiter, not sure which gives the best detail.

R RGB.
Image 1 - WinJupos
Image 2 - MaximDL
Both further processed in CS3

Thanks, John.

Really nice work considering the seeing. Thanks for sharing.

Hi John, looks like you haven't lost the knack. Both images are good, it's really hard to say which one has more detail. I think the differences are mostly the different colour balance between the two.

Nice work John & good to see you back doing Jupiter. Good effort considering the not overly good conditions in QLD on this morning.

Second one for me as far as colour balance goes.

Thanks for the comments, colour balance always gets me with planets whether to keep it natural in image 1 or white balance in image 2. Both work fine so I suppose it is just down to taste, although the second image has a touch better contrast.

John.

I don't see much difference between them apart from the colour either. Something in between the two of them would work for me colour-wise :)

You still can do it, great result!

Nice work John, certainly some well resolved detail in there, well worth the effort.
