Anybody interested in a night at the Pony Club on 10th November? Or an alternative on the 17th?:)

I keen for either.
Just got the SDM back on the road with it's new silver coated
Mark Suchting mirror and a heap of Peter Reid's mods to bring it up to 2012 specs.
Would you believe motorised primary collimation via a wired hand controller.
A bit of overkill for a 14.5 but anyone using a ladder at their new SDM
is really going to appreciate this standard feature.

Hi Rick
Long time no see.
But as you know i am en route to Cairns.
Hopefully we can get together one last time before the end of the world, as we know it.
So start the guys thinking about a PC Christmas session, hopefully before the 21st big bang
Hope you have good night

Keen to go if the weather plays ball. Not heading up the top end for the eclipse. Good luck to those making the trip.

My apologies all - I have developed a hacking chesty cough. No one wants to share my germs tonight, I promise you.

Being optimistic, I thought it may have cleared by now, but alas I have not seen any blue stuff this arvo and the prognosis is more of the same according to forecasts.
So I too am going to pass up tonight and maybe hope that next weekend is more favorable. Damn, foiled again.

Gloom.
But if you get one chance you gotta go for it. Right?
Looking forward to Meeting some IISers at least.

Wedding on the 17th.
Did Geoff mention that Chaffey Dam site to you, looks like a great place for an astonomical sabatical. We can camp within 20 mts of the water. We are going to peruse it again soon, Geoff said him and Karen might come up for an overnight run and stop in the pub. Don't know if you and Lyn might be interested also.
Its futher than bretti but it looks great, freezing in winter though i believe, Jacob i think knows the spot, just have to ask Allan if he knows it also

Hi Arthur
We are in Tamworth as you speak.
Chaffey dam area and Nundle is our old stomping ground as we spent many a time there while the dam was being built. Would be a great spot to camp and good skies. Definitely interested in a weekend up there.

Last time I stayed at Chaffey was about 2-3 years ago. Rates were pretty cheap: $2 camping per person and $1 hot shower each as well. We set up camp near the toilet block. Just watch out for the bindi's and if you're pitching a tent there's rocks everywhere.
I've got a bit happening in my spare time at the moment. All going well and weather clear I might see if I can make the PC this weekend for a quick visit. No promises though.

Hi Arthur,
no, I don't think I know that one.
But always willing to try new experiences ;)
Especially if it provides an excuse to go dark sky camping.
Where abouts is it?
...edit...
OK I see...Nundle?
I am currently in Charters TOwers.
Coming home the inland route.
I will see how far out of my way that will be?

It's not looking good, is it Greg?
My head cold is not entirely cleared, so I for one will definitely not be braving the elements tonight.

Yes...again cloud cover and no signs of clearing in a hurry, so unfortunately I will be pulling the pin.
It will have to clear some day, won't it?
