Hi all,

One from the archives, Aug 2011. I thought I'd post it because it's one of the few I have with no airglow and a good example of how dark the sky can get in WA. Taken looking straight up from deep within a gorge at Karijini NP.

Thanks for looking :)

That's a great photo Colin  I really like the silhouette made by the gorge, reminds me of a game I use to play as a kid (moon buggy) :)

Very nice. Clever framing.

Are you looking to get a 5D3 at some point?

Greg.

Very tasty indeed Colin. Did you try any lightpainting on the gorge walls?

Thanks Carlos, Mike, Laurie, Greg, Mike, Alex, Greg. Appreciate the feedback guys :)

Would love to Greg, but will probably wait a bit to see if the price drops. At current price I can't really justify it as the noise is only 1/2 stop or so better than the 5D2...based on the side by side tests I did. I'd love to shoot 6400 at similar noise levels to what I have now, though, as it would greatly improve depth of field...I could shoot f/3.5 or f/4 around magic moon.

It's part of a timelapse, Greg, so no lightpainting. I've wacked up another shot from after the moon rose showing the walls. I'd love to get the walls lit naturally + Milky Way, but would have to go down there in March and risk being swept away by a flash flood.

Great photo Greg.

Love the unusual composition.
