Hi all,

I finally properly aligned my scope last night and made markings on the floor for future sessions. I was able to take 4min exposures after aligning 2 stars with my HEQ5pro Syncscan and guiding with Orion Starshoot 50mm mini, despite the fine layer of cloud and almost full moon I took took a total of 16mins @ 800iso of The Carina Nebula with my ED80mm. Stacked in DSS and cropped.

Thanks for looking :)

Comments and feedback appreciated.

Carlos.

That's really good for a full moon shot.

Very good indeed.
Focus is great and there's some lovely colour coming through.

Try a Skyglow / Nebula filter. I did Eta Cariane the other night with 80% moon, and this was the result: http://imageshack.us/f/141/eca4001.png/

Great job BTW!

Thank you very much Laurie :)

Thanks very much Kevin :) just shows that fun can still be had in surburban lit Sydney with an almost full moon. My expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised.

Thank you very much JJJ :thanx: btw congrats again on all your recent successes!!:)

Thanks Lewis, I'll keep that in mind, lots of detail in your image very nice, can you suggest a filter for a canon DSLR? I'm about to spend some money of a field flatner too ...

Thanks :)

Nice one Carlos. Love the detail in the core
4 min subs, good stuff.
I'm in the same boat re the flattener, i thought i could sail a bit longer before wanting one and now it seems the ship will sail a lot better with a flattener:thumbsup:
If you get on to a good one, let me know:)

Thanks Steve :)

I've been recommended the Orion Field Flattener $149 specifically for my ED80 so I will be going with that one. However at the same time I'm trying to save for a heavier mount to carry both my C11 and ED80 at once ... each day I have to resist the temptation to drive down to the store and pick up the Flattener but I think by this time next week I will have been overcome by the tempation and NEED to have IT

I will let you know how it goes
