Well, I had the jet as well as a mixed up & gusty low level disturbing things. Gotta love (NOT) the high frequency vibe as well as the flag ruffling in the breeze look on the live feed. Decided on bumping the gain right up & a fast exposure of 1/72 @ 60FPS to try to salvage something from the morning. Talk about grain/noise galore, but stacking more than usual calms it down a bit.

Main reason I was out imaging was that last time I imaged I was getting choppy recordings with loss of frames @ 60FPS so I reorganised some startup services/programs (stopped the buggers from starting up) & it seems to have solved it. Back to my typical 10K + frames in 3 mins.

 Wish we had 1/2 the decent skies you've been getting ... we've had clouds now for 2 weeks!

How do you go about selecting which frames to stack with such large numbers and crappy seeing?

Very nice!:)

Still pretty good Asimov. You'll be ready for it when the good seeing comes your way.

Thanks Carlos. Yes pity about those clouds.

Thanks Laurie. You seem to be an avid planet fan, reckon you should take it up!:)

Peter I do nothing special. I most certainly eyeball the AVI first & come up with a seeing estimate. If it's a stable 5/10 I'd then choose roughly 40% of total frames AFTER initial Autostakkert analysing of course. Sometimes it pays to experiment but generally speaking I get the stack amount pretty right most of the time I feel. Reckon the seeing was 3/10 in this lot of data but there was also fleeting instances of 6/10 + stuff so to be on the safe side I stacked 2300/11321 frames.

Thanks Ivan. I will be ready when that seeing comes yep.
