View Full Version here: : Ok I couldn't resist a test shot tonight with canon 350D

I couldn't help it...my Hutech Canon 350D turned up today.

Just took 3 unguided images through the ED80 as thats all the scope I have at them moment.

No flats, darks or bias frames just 3 x 4 minute images.

I have never been happy imaging with the ED80 in Brisbane...out at a dark site yes but not at home.

Just stacked and sent to Photoshop.

I know we are sick of the key hole but it was more for testing purposes.

Very happy with the results considering what I was using and the conditions.

Warning 3MB

Hey, welcome to the world of Ha enabled DSLR imaging :)
What ISO did you shoot at?
also, did you scecify the clear antireflection glass, or the IR filter(but still lets in all the H alpha) option?

OMG Tony - that is simply stunning! Incredible colour and detail given the light pollution, lack of darks, flats etc.

Cheers

Tony,

Holy crap, that is incredible.

Can't wait to see more!

How much does the camera cost? I'm in the market for one myself. I'm just saving my pennies for an ED80, a Williams Optics Crayford-style focuser and a Hutech-modified camera.

Humayun

The only problem with a shot like that Tony, is that the the first shot is always the worst and then you improve on it next time. If you improve on that shot next time, there will be a lot of key-boards covered in dribble, as we all stare in amazement.

Top stuff.

Wow Tony,
A couple of kilo's of home made snags for you for sure

Only a 12 month warranty on something that expensive ?
Did you tell your Wife that you bought it ?

Great stuff, I am looking forward to your next posts.

Thanks guys for your comments.

There is a few things that get me excited about this image.
Firstly....image was unguided for 4 minutes so my tracking and drift alignment is paying off.

Secondly...the amount of detail on a very bright night using a scope I have previously disliked using in Brisbane for imaging.

Thirdly...the lack of calibration and exposures for final image....I'm excited.

Cant wait till the LX200R 10" turns up.

Hey Tony, which rich Aunty died?

That is very promising for just a test. You might find that you need a little different colour balance with the new camera. Great stuff.

The amount of equipment I have purchased I should be looked after.

I even got it quicker through OPT then if I went through Hutech.

Ordered the camera Last friday for $1350 USD plus postage + GST + customs

received it Tuesday 10:00am.

Dont tell Stuart (Beren) ....lol

Thanks for your help Terry.

How did you get it to go thru customs so fast? They held onto mine from Hutech for a few days before even notifying me of the GST cost. It spent more time in customs then travelling from Hutech to Australia.

Scott,

What I have found with items over $1000AUD if you send your item through Aust post which is USPS in the states (National Post) then they seem to want to hold onto your parcel and even get you to provide information in the way of filling out custom and declaration forms.

With items over $1000AUD I have them sent via UPS not USPS as UPS is a stand alone contracted postage company who will do all this for you.

I just track the item online and once it lands in Australia I ring them up and pay the GST and custom fee over the phone so then the parcel is released immediately.

As you can see below..the order info was received 19:16 Friday Night and delivered 9:46am Tuesday.

Sure is...1 of 3 images had a satelite...but that didn't worry me as the purpose of the image was for testing.
