I looked out the window last night and saw and amazing view of the moon shining through a sucker hole in the clouds.
Main exposure: Canon 5DmkII, 1/15 sec, 372 mm, f/6.2, ISO 6400 with a Tak FS-60CB; plus a 30% mask of the cloudless moon at 1/800 sec, ISO 800 for crater detail.

Yes, it's great being able to back to astro tinkering. Sounds like a great idea for the summer!

Great shot Dave  I have often thought of doing a composite like this with the moon and clouds but I always worried about how they would blend together. This looks seamless.

Thanks Greg! I've never had any success blending a brightly lit moon, but in this case the moon was naturally dimmed by the clouds to be properly exposed in the same shot. Unfortunately, the clouds were moving a little too quickly for me to get a sequence of shots for HDR blending of the clouds.
Lovely image Dave. very eerie.
Watch out for the werewolves.
