This folks, is bigger than having your astro pics hanging up at NASA!!!
I got an email this morning, and I'm shaking, and I've been running around the house screaming and dancing since I got it 10 minutes ago.
I won a trip down to Sydney to meet Brian Cox so I can ask him my question about Mars.
OMFG :eyepop:

Hi JJJ,
Did you ask which Brian Cox?
LewisM
24-10-2012, 01:09 PM
Indeed a good question, and one we could debate here, but would cross the boundaries of the 3 Politeness Taboos (discussing Sex, Religion and Politics) :)
Well, 1 boundary anyway... but I am sure most of us have open minds anyway here.

25-10-2012, 01:57 AM
LOL I didn't read the full description of the prize when I entered as I didn't think I had a snowballs chance in hell of winning. So I have no idea of the details. And now the page for entering the comp is closed.
It seems they are throwing a prize pack in as well. I'm hoping it contains books and videos. :) .

Hi jjj,:)
I'm a bit late getting this in. All the best congrats and salutations have been used up. There's so many of them.;)
I am sincerely happy for you. You are well deserving of this good fortune.
Particularly because your enthusiasm is unprecedented. I hope it goes well for you.:)
Have you given thought to starting an exclusive type of teaching clinic? LOL. I would enroll as your first student.:D
Cheers:)
Well done :) it will be great to hear his answer

You don't think a pair of jeans and an IIS tshirt is appropriate?

25-10-2012, 06:32 PM
Well certainly a crinkly T-shirt won't be out of place :rofl::rofl:
Sorry

25-10-2012, 07:21 PM
Then so you shall, for 20 hrs and 5 mins straight. ;)
:rofl::rofl::rofl:good on ya nettie :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I am sooooo jealous!!! :prey2::prey2::prey2:
Oh my gosh if it were me that'd be only be the beginning- there couldn't be enough collagen pumped into me, hair extensions hanging off me, modern techniques to up separate & point ammunition, heels that I need pain reliever for, a designer dress I can't afford, enough perfume to sink a ship, and a ton of makeup in sultry romantic shades that would make Max Factor proud all the while smiling at him intelligently knowing my feeble question of "so tell my about your rockstar life" is all I can come up with, with my hand not far from my purse containing a scented white & gold card with my room number- just for a coffee & something sweet- uhmm really:innocent:. And this is exactly why I didn't apply for comp- I can't afford to see him both in dollars & pain. phew take a breath Suzy....
On a serious note Nettie:lol:, I honestly couldn't be happier for you.
Good choice with the IIS t-shirt & I know you will wear it with pride; I think it's the best outfit for the job as it helps to represent your lifestyle & dedication very well. As Brent said so well in his post- you are very deserving of this.;)
I can't wait to hear all the details- I'm so excited and proud for you that I could burst! :D
Excellent question by the way.
Oh P.S. again.. I haven't given up on the possibility of trying to get Brian to appear on IIS on a live chat- so Nettie, maybe you could pursue it with him if the opportunity arises? Great IIS publicity too.:D Tell him there's more threads on him than he's changed t-shirts (okay maybe not the last part).
P.S.S.S. btw as I type this he's currently in Singapore apparantly "resting" en route to Sydney. I stalk him just a little bit:question:
P.S.S.S.S.:rolleyes: pls tell me if his lips are as good in real life & everything else Liz said! Okay, really shut up now Suzy.....! Wait- I'm allowed to- for goodness sake how often does this opportunity arise! *sigh*.

Now here is a coincidence I only just found out after doing some research about Brian.
Back in July I was contacted by a fellow called Mark Thompson from the BBC, asking if I could help out on an Astronomy book he is writing.
Now, as it turns out, I find he worked along side Brian on the tv show "Star Gazing Live". LOLOL
So only one degree of separation!! And something in common to chat about. :)

Congratulation JJJ, I couldn't think of anyone better to enjoy the prize.
Maybe you could present him with an IIS T-shirt and we can all look out for it in his next series :P
jjjnettie
06-11-2012, 11:13 PM
What a good idea. I don't have an IIS Tshirt, so I'll give him a pair of IIS Eclipse Glasses instead. :)
I'm also taking along my Sonic Screw Driver for him to sign, to commemorate his little stint Dr Who. :)
My bags are packed, the flights confirmed, I have window seats there and back.
:) Afternoon tea is being held here.

It looks very posh. It's going to turn this country girls head I'm sure. :)
Hi JJJ,
I would imagine he is out here for the eclipse as well?
If you had not spotted it, on ABC TV this coming Thurs Nov 8, he features on Catalyst talking about eclipses.
See http://www.abc.net.au/tv/guide/abc1/201211/programs/SC1102H024D2012-11-08T200000.htm
You might recollect there was a program where he went to Varanasi to watch the
eclipse there -
