Thanks Larry,
See the deformed stars in the corner, this is from a smudge left by a brand new giant lense pen i got from a local camera shop. does anybody know where to get a very good cleanable lense cloth.

Really, just adding more data to reduce the noise levels, there is a fair bit of red noise in the dark areas. I tried to reduce it from your image, but it is heavily compressed so it is hard to do much with it.
Get some more data and it will smooth out, it is already a lovely image and a bit more data will finesse it. Maybe tone down the sharpening a bit.

 Nice image Clinton! I love it too. I took my first images of it last week and have been on a high ever since.
Some of the advice I got and I think applies to you too, is to under expose the centre of M42 the Trapezium, do you have photoshop? If so this tutorial will come in handy

I'm yet to try it myself.
Keep it up and looking forward to seeing your progress! and mine ;)

Do you have an very old , well worn, clean cotton tshirt? I've found them best for giving the final polish to a clean objective. They are very soft, absorbent and lint free. :)
