I have been testing my MX over the last couple of nights to see how far I can take it unguided. I have been pleasantly surprised, I was aiming for around five minutes unguided but I have been able to do 10 minutes.

I have not trained the PEC yet so you will see a small amount of RA movement in this photo, don't be to harsh on me.:) also the seeing was poor.

OTA: Planewave CDK12.5 focal length 2541mm

Mount: Software Bisque Paramount MX

Camera: Canon 5D Mark 3

Software : Sky X, EOS Utility, Photoshop ( all Mac )

The image comprises of 1x 10min, 1x 6min, 1x 5min, 1x 1min exposures @ 400 ISO, all unguided.

I have only spent about 10min in Photoshop on this image. It is more of a tracking and camera test than a finished product.

Thanks for looking

Phil

As they say--the most important thing is the mount, followed by the mount and then comes the mount. Takes lots of stress away when you don't have to keep a nervous eye on the tracking graph. Nice image BTW.

Yep, I agree, it's mount, mount then mount....then OTA. Looks like you got the mount part...and the OTA :eyepop: I see some eye candy on the horizon

Cheers Logan,

Thanks Larry,

Thanks Geoff,
You've got that right, having a mount like an MX is a dream. If I had a choice between a great OTA or mount, the mount would win every time.

Cheers Mike, If I can get some images out that are half as good as yours, I will be pleased.

Thanks Ross, The performance of the MX is awesome. I am very pleased with it. The software integration is so clever. There is no way 10 minutes unguided would be possible with out Sky X, T Point and Pro Track.
