Hi all, last night produced one of the brightest aurora displays for some month with it being just visible to the naked eye at its best. Not as good as the Tassie views, but still pleased with it.

1 is 30 second exposure with Sigma 15mm f2.8 fisheye lens and 5D Mk II at ISO 3200.

2 is 20 seconds exp with 24mm f1.4 L lens and 20Da at ISO 800

3 is 30 second with the same lens on the 5D MK II and ISO 3200.

Great shots Lester. Is that point far from where you live? Your location is the benchmark for me...35 degrees is the furthest south I can get in WA. Sadly cloud and timing have worked against us the last few times. Our time will come. ;)

ps. On reviewing some timelapse footage from Albany last month, I did pick up some faint moving curtains, but they coincided with moon rise so are pretty washed out. Nice to see though :)

Thanks Colin and Laurie for your comments. Colin I have a 30 minute drive to that location from my home. I heard that the activity lasted all night as some from Tassie reported. I packed up just before midnight as it subsided; although must have picked up later. All the best.

Very nice Lester. I wish I had been at a dark sky site that night!

Thanks Wayne. For those that are interested in seeing aurora, the activity is supposed to increase from now on through next year. So worth keeping an eye on the aurora activity sites. Have had 5 nights of aurora activity for October already that were visible from my latitude. All the best.
