Managed to get out with the scope Friday and Saturday night.

This effort is from the last 3 captures last night. I captured Jupiter and 2 moons in an AVI at f20, then Jup and 3 moons in another at f10 and got the missing moon and Jup in the last one.

Stacked in Registax, merging and cloning in PS CS2.

Nice work Al! Looks great! Not often you see all 4 moons in!

Nice one Al. A majestic image of the King of Planets with his retinue of 4 Galilean moons.

Cheers

Hey Al, nice pic, it's like it's own little mini solar system :)

Thanks guys.

It was a fun little challenge to do - scaling down a larger scale image to fit the disc of Jupiter. Interestingly a 2x barlow does not produce a 2x image size increase (It was somewhat bigger!)

Nice shootin' Al.

Re your image scale. Do use a diagonal or straight into the back of the sct?

Thanks Ving!

Paul, I used a diagonal.... scope - diagonal - (barlow) - ToUcam. I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference if its in both ligh trains...?

Al, diagonal shouldn't have much effect between scope and barlow, but if you add the diagonal after the barlow and fit the webcam in that you will be getting significantly more magnification... have the same effect as an extension tube which many of the webcam imagerying types are using to boost image scale.

Ah... yes... of course...

I knew that! :P at least I should've been able to figure it out... it's very obvious now that you mention it!

I haven't got that adventurous yet, but I'll have to keep it in mind!

Thanks!

Al.
