Today's APoD is one of the most beautiful images I've ever seen:

Pretty cool - it has an earthy feel (like clouds / fog / mist) with the great deep sky stuff - very interesting.

I'm not overly fussed on those diffraction spikes, but the dusty bits are awesome.

Nice but the added diffraction spikes detract from the rest of the image IMO

Same for me. Spikes normally don't bother me and I think they look great in some images, but here they are just too much.
In all other respects it is an awesome image

Thats a great pic , , so much subtle detail there , the spikes just
completely destroy it for me and arn't needed at all imo .

You guys are crazy.

Diffraction spikes are the way of the future.

They give an aesthetic to the shot.

Looks like something you'd see airbrushed on the side of a Sandman panel van ;) Seriously though, pretty amazing image...

Love the image, but I feel the spikes detract from it.

You're all wrong, the spikes are what /make/ the image! :P

I need an emoticon for a large orange orangutan falling to the ground

But seriously, awesome image. I gather the diffraction spikes were added? Do seem a little intrusive, but heck what a stunner.
