I've just heard that 60 minutes reporter Richard Carleton has just passed away whilst filming a story in Beaconsfield on the trapped miners. R.I.P. Richard

compared to the opportunistic gutter journalists that inhabit the profession he was truly a reporter with dignity, he will be sadly missed.

I saw his report a couple of weeks ago from Chernobyl. What guts he had: fancy going into the control room of Chernobyl. He was happy to challenge anyone, anywhere. I was not a fan of 60 Minutes itself - rather prone to sensationalism IMHO, but Richard was a cut above the rest. I guess he died while doing what he did very well.

yes and he will take a bit of chernobyl to the grave, the radioactivity he experienced would have tagged him with trace for quite some time

certainly one of the best reporters of our time, he wasn't afraid to ask the hard questions.
I hope my passing will be as his, doing what you love the best.
