Hi all, don't know really where these photos should be posted as aurora is terrestrial, but there are deep sky views included in the background. I guessed because the main object is meant to be the aurora, then the terrestrial section is where they are.

The activity went all night, but I only lasted to 10:30. It was too faint to see naked eye and had to up the ISO to high numbers and max exposure without streaking the stars.

24mm lens at f1.4, 10 second exposure and ISO 6400.

14mm Samyang at f2.8, 40 second exposure and ISO 6400

Nice shots Lester. Interesting view from Port Lincoln. That's about the same latitude as Albany, so there's hope for us in WA. I'd post them in the 'nightscapes' forum in future. Some other aurora shots from last night are there.

Thanks Colin. Just to inform you the KP index has risen from 4 to 6 = where it was last night at its peak. A 4 is the minimum I require to be able to photograph any activity from my latitude. All the best.

Great shots Lester. I like the last one the best as its got some magenta in it as well. I think it may improve the image if you used Photoshop to square up the image.

Thanks for the photos Lester.

The aurora was visible as a broad, diffuse glow in the sky behind broken cloud here at Tinderbox, just south of Hobart. I was viewing at 9.30 pm.

Cheers

Steve.

Thanks for your comments, Laurie, Greg and Steve. Good tip Greg I should look more closely. Here is a altered version of that image.
