Greetings
I notice that Peter Tan (Hong Kong) makes sturdy looking clamp style telescope rings with wide base and top (not the standard thin aluminium style).
Anyone using these or heard favourable reports, his prices seem very reasonable.

I have dealt with him in the past, and I could not fault him. Prices were good and service is great, once he answers the Emails that is. He is apparently very very busy.

Carl, I purchased some a few months back. Listing them shortly. What size you after? Either way, check my listing under Accessories in the next few days, will give you a good idea about the quality. Solid. They are a big step up from the Bintel / Skywatcher vixen style.... Cheers.

I did ask about them and he said they were milled from 1/2" alloy. Traditional rings like this are usually made from 1".

Might be best to email him.

Hi Carl,

The other option is Parallax Instruments in the US. I purchased a set for my ED120. For the ED120, they use the 114mm diameter rings and bore out to 116mm to suit the ED120.

Cheers,

Daniel

Hi Daniel
Yes am currently speaking to Parallax Industries and OPT who is a supplier. They advised me about the slight variation in size.

Were you happy with the end product?
