:hi:
It's time to upgrade the old rack and pinion focuser so if anyone has a Saxon or Skywatcher 1:10 crayford style or dual speed focuser (or any Newt focuser with the base plate holes 90 mm apart from the centre of each hole, i.e. along the axis of OTA) and you would like to let it go please PM me. I will also consider very good condition upgraded rack and pinion focusers as my current one (in image below) is jumping all over the place at the moment which is most disconcerting. If so could you please send me PM and a pic below or PM me dimensions of mounting holes to ensure i can fit it to my Dob?

It needs to be branded SW or Saxon or the mounting holes in the base plate need to be 90mm distance otherwise I think I'm drilling holes which I am trying to avoid.

Many thanks,

John.

Sorry, just to be clear I am NOT after one of these models but as stated am open to other rack and pinion models that are direct replacements for SW/Sax focuser. Thanks, John.

You can take your current focuser to Bintel & see is their GSO Newtonian focusers will suit. These are much more readily available than the Skywatcher ones. Or if you've got a mate with a Newt with a GSO focuser you can also compare. Less of a compromising proposition the later.

Thanks Alex, been through that. I purchased the GSO newt focuser second hand and it is too small. Have to drill new holes and work out what I'm going to do with the four exposed ones. Too troublesome. Thanks for thinking of it though.

Looks like the Orion reflector focusers are also a straight fit. Cheers.
