Hello,
I did two versions of the solar full disc:
1- Enhanced Resolution: Captured with a Lunt 60mm dual stacked etalon, 0.5A bandwidth, using a 2.5x power mate. This is a 13 tales mosaic that can be seen here (File size - 4MB:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/12330269@N02/8064508695/sizes/k/in/photostream/
2- The other is a 2 tiles mosaic also in prime focus with the DMK41 connected straight to the scope with no focal extenders or reducers. This one can be seen attached to this post.
It is interesting how low is the level of activity so close to the solar maxima !!
Thanks for looking,
Fernando

Well done Fernando. The mosaics look even. Not sure if you're on band in the 13 panel mosaic though. It looks slightly off band to me. Its great to see you producing a mosaic and I look forward to many more of them in the future.

Paul
can you please explain what you mean by on band.

Hi Pete - looking good.
I am not sure of the exact 'on band' definition but I think it is where the contrast and definition of filaments and AR are most pronounced - if you tune too far you can be off band - Paul will give all the proper explanation.
Looking forward to more of your work!

Actually Matt you are right. You can be in the red wing or the blue wing of the band pass. This looks like red wing and I have found if you are just a little off the image has the appearance of being a little doubled. Don't get me wrong this is still very good.

Thank you Larry !!
Thank you very much, Matt !!
Paul, to me all comments are allways welcome, so please don't refrain yourself to comment and criticize my images.
As for the etalon tuning, you might be right although I do my best to get both etalons tuned targeting the best resolution possible, but no question that I might be off for a bit.
That is why I hate these mechanically adjusted etalons, where so critical adjustments rely on mechanical pressure applied manually, having just the image on the monitor as the feedback for a proper tuning.
I can't help to say that this is one of the reasons by which I love my Daystar Filter with its precise temperature control to tune the center frequency of the filter. I am getting a proper focal reducer to be used with my DS filter so that I can do full discs. Once I have this figured out, I will sell this Lunt.
Thank you for the comments.

Fernando I would love a Day star filter set. I have seen great images from them over the years.

Hi Derek, thank you for the kind words. You are right, the sun is too quiet lately. I hope we have some action soon.
Carlos, thank you for the thumbs up. I really appreciated your comments.
Best Regards,

Well Done Fernando. Perhaps as others have suggested, a little off band.

Thanks Ted. I will try to get a better tuning, but as I said before the process to tune the etalon manualy is just awful.
Thank you so much Pete !! Your comment has been higly appreciated. I got a new focal reducer that should enable me to do much better solar full disc's mosaics using my Daystar Ha filter. Then will be the end of mechanically adjusted etalons.

I must have been viewing at almost exactly the same time, this captures what I saw beautifully.
I love the colour pallete that you choose, what are your processing secrets :)
