I took six 32 minute exposures of the 'tail' of the SMC in 3nm NII. I wanted to see what dim stuff was in there.

Another trick is to bin the data in software and use this simulated binned image as a two stop brighter image for HDR tone mapping. There is almost no loss of resolution for bright stars due to dithering and upsizing. By adding when binning it is then close to a two hour exposure

Here is a large inverted image. 5MB

For identification of various objects see this chart from Paddy's (Patrick) site.

I do not know if this dim stuff has been imaged before. Anyone know?

Nice deep image there Bert. I did delve around in this area a while back. It's certainly not often imaged.

Cheers

Not so dimm I would say with that scope.

I am pleased to announce that my RH200 arrives tomorrow. Let the fun begin. Rain in the forecast!
