Hi,

Good clear skies last night, cold too. Ideal for an uncooled DSLR, should have my cooler box next week, fingers crossed!

Decided to revisit the lagoon, using eight, five and two minute exposures at ISO 800, a total 1 hour 52 minutes.
It certainly takes the 8 minute exposure to bring out the fainter edges of the Lagoon.
Learned a valuable lesson processing the image, I recently purchased a second lap top just for imaging. I processed on this machine, everything seemed reasonably balanced. When I imported the image to my other laptop to post, the hour glass was completely blown in the core. Both lap tops are compaqs same vintage, go figure!

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice image Justin - considering it's an unmodded DSLR you've managed to capture some nice reds in that.

Thanks Laurie, David and Rick.

The lagoon is somewhat like M42 to process, so many ways to balance colours and features.

Cheers,

Justin.

Great photo Michael, colour and detail are amazing.
You have really set a very high bar for the rest of us. I'm nowhere near your standard yet - but looking forward to getting nearer.

Thanks Rod!

Nice of you to make the mistake of thinking it's Mike's image, I am getting better but no where near Mikes.

Thanks Mike!

Cheers,

Justin.

Justin I have watched your imaging go from strength to strength. This is a good image image with good colour, nice star shapes and good processing. Perhaps some selective sharpening (see Ken Crawfords tuts) to sharpen up some areas is needed but overall your skills are coming along nicely. I like it.

I would like to invite you to Clayton in the coming months. A small group of us get together during the summer months and it is a good opportunity to talk about astronomy and image under good skies. Feel free to PM me to discuss.

No worries Rod!

Easy to do when there's so many images to look at, I know I have to remind myself to read the thread.

Thanks Paul!

It's good to see I'm improving, it's great to have the input.

Thanks for the invite, I would like to catch up with fellow astrophotgraphers.

I'll PM you tonight.

Cheers,

Justin.
