I was out giving the new camera (cooled and modded 1100D) a run on the Polarie this evening. And while it was doing it's thing, I thought I'd take another look at the test shot's I'd taken with it during Astrofest.
During camp, for some reason I could only get the camera to capture in Backyard EOS in "frame and focus" mode. So the images it was taking were only 15 seconds long, and shot in Medium Jpeg.
Soooo, I thought, what the hell, I'll stack 'em and see how it looks.
And here is how it looks. :)
5 x 15 second subs @ ISO3200
No flats, no darks.

Looking very promising Jeanette. Looks like you're going to have a heck of a lot of fun with this one.

Really liked the look of that camera at Astrofest. Have a look at sequence generator pro as that can handle canon cameras and you get 45 day trial with it. Great photo by the way.

The camera itself is an object of great beauty. That big fat red anodised heat sink hanging off the back of it is soooo sexy. :)

A lovely image Jeanette – nicely processed for such a paucity of data! I remember shooting this back in the days of film. I manually guided for 20 minutes using Fuji 400 35mm film – it’s astonishing how your 5x15 secs shot appears to go deeper, acknowledging that it was acquired at ISO 3200.

Cheers
