I took this one at the last new moon. I'm quite pleased with the result except for a bit of a halo around the brighter stars.

Telescope: William Optics 110mm APO
Camera: QSI540wsg
Exposure:60min L, 40min each of RGB, all unbinned.
Guiding: SX Lodestar with 6 sec guide exposures
Mount: AP900GTO
Acquisition: MaximDL
Processing: PixInsight

Nicely done Geoff. You have some nice detail in the galaxy.

Nice work, Geoff! It's a struggle to get good stars and good galaxy details unless you do a lot of masking and separate processing.

That image is great & would be perfect if you processed out the slight green cast.
Well done.

Great detail Geoff! How long are the subframes on this (lum & RGB), and do you use the Lodestar with an external guider or an OAG?

Had a touch of green in the image which I hope you dont mind but I removed to get a cleaner pallette

Hi David,
I use the lodestar as an OAG. Subframes were 500s--5 for RGB, 7 for L

Thanks Allan,
I'll have a careful look at this, but a quick scan using the info palette in PS is showing little, if any, green bias in the background. There are certainly many spots where the green numbers are below the red and the blue, but perhaps more where it is above.
Although looking at the outer regions of the galaxy there does seem to be a bit of excess green which is gone in your version.

OK, I'm convinced about the green cast. I've had another go at it, posted here

Hi Geoff,
Yes that's much better now.
I hope to do as well when I image NGC 253 which is my next target.

cheers
Allan
